It is Time for RIP

WOoohoooo! I have been waiting for this for 6th months, I am so excited. Check out the artwork, I love them all. So I could write the rules up here and the book subjects but I think you should go to Carl's site and read them for yourself. I am going to do Peril the First and Peril on the Screen.

This is a my pool for the reading.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
Downpour by Kat Richardson
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Summer of Night by Dan Simmons
Haunted Legends by Ellen Datlow
Night Strangers by Christopher A Bohjalian
Secret of Crickley Hall by James Hubert
Graveminder by Melissa Marr
Good House by Tananarive Due
The Woman in Black by Susan Hill
Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (a reread for the uberth time)
Footsteps in the Dark by Georgette Heyer

For Peril the Screen. . .
Watcher in the Woods I saw this when if first came out, and it still scares the crap out of me.
The House on Haunted Hill I know this one is old but for something like this challenge only Vincent Price would do.
The Haunting I know this is just a retelling of Haunting of Hill House but I love the story. If I watch this one I will also watch the 1963 copy.

Can you tell I am excited about this?

The Hill and the Jackson are on mine as well! The Haunting of Hill House is one of my favourite novels. (Also the modern adaptation is good for nostalgia (I went to school where they shot the exteriors!) but the 1963 version is classy and ever-so-much more true to the book.) I'll look forward to your reviews.

Happy reading!

Oh such great book and film choices. I could just use your list and have a wonderful time with R.I.P. this year.

I went ahead and ordered The Woman in Black from the library today after seeing it on so many lists.

I feel guilty that I haven't read The Historian yet. I start it every year and get distracted just because it is so large.

Thanks for your excitement and thanks for joining us!

Kate, I would love to see that school. For some reason the building just gives me the willies. You should see if you can find Watcher in the Woods. That one I can't watch alone.

Lola, did you like the two books that you read? I have heard that The Historian is a bit drawn out.

Yes, DesLily if you have never read it you must.

Carl, I started putting that list together in July.

Kailana, I do plan on enjoying every awake, can't sleep because of the banging noise moment I can.

Great list. I read The Historian and Her Fearful Symmetry last year. The Historian does take some reading but I really enjoyed it and the Niffenegger I loved - very creepy!

That looks like a pretty comprehensive list. The Historian is a fabulous book! I read it last October and loved it. I'm crossing fingers there'll be a sequel.

Neverwhere is good. I listened to the audio with Gaiman as the reader. I also really liked The Historian.

I'm planning on reading The Woman in Black, too. Excited to get to that one!!
